Neal Reinalda

A paradox can be defined as a true statement that leads to a contradiction which challenges intuition.  Much of my recent work aims to explore the space of contradiction between ideas and objects, aiming to inspire a re-evaluation of the importance of objecthood in our every day lives.

Neal Reinalda (b. 1986, Tulsa, OK) works as an artist, curator and musician. Reinalda received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA)in 2009. Reinalda co-founded Open Space, Baltimore, a gallery run by artists in Baltimore, MD. He has exhibited in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

In addition to his visual practice, Reinalda co-runs Lost:Ghosts:Records and is also involved in many musical projects such as the avant computer-noise band Prelay, free-form improvisational project (maps), and noise/post-punk band Stoned, as well as performing and recording under various solo monikers such as Daytime and Dr. Unk.  Reinalda also runs a bi-yearly online magazine that showcases various up-and-coming local artists and hosts various gallery shows and film screenings.  In his free time he enjoys sitting quietly.
